In this book we will study. Rights and Responsibilities that people have in society. Inequalities that exist in society. We will also look at how laws affect people and how people can co-operate at a national and international level.

The Highland Council web site. This will give you an idea of the services provided by the council.
The web site of Charles Kennedy an MP who represents a Highland constituency will give you an idea how an MP represents their constituents.

The final topic looks at the way in which pressure groups try to influence the public.
Some examples of pressure groups are Greenpeace and Animal Aid.

Conflict Peace and Justice. In this book we will be mainly looking at the ways in which countries co-operate to try to reduce or stop conflict. We will mainly look at the work of the United Nations throughout the world to try to end conflict and wars.

Paying the Price.

In this book we will study the way in which people in the USA live compared to people in China.

Across the Divide. In this book we will look at issues like prejudice and discrimination. The Britkids web site explores these issues. We will investigate the work of the Equal Opportunities Commission.

We will also investigate the way UNICEF helps children who live in Developing countries. We will study two groups of children. The first group are the Children of the Favelas in Brazil. The second group of children we will look at are those in Child Labour.
